They say history repeats itself—
Not because the same events recur exactly, but because the same underlying systems and structures repeatedly produce the same kinds of events.

The human experience is patterned, and we organize our world in patterned ways:

  • We form institutions and roles that organize how people participate in the world around them.

  • We create stories, narratives, and archetypes because our lived experience reveals that reality consistently unfolds in recurring and recognizable patterns.

  • We build and operate hierarchies across governments, corporations, religions, and societal systems.

  • We establish rules, incentives, and boundaries that govern behavior and reward certain outcomes.

  • We create rituals, competitions, and spectacles that give meaning to success, failure, and belonging.

These patterns consistently recur throughout history, even though they manifest differently in each era.

Sports, media, entertainment, culture, and capital are not separate from this. They are some of the clearest places where these patterns become visible in real time and are played out publicly, repeatedly, and at scale.

At the Center exists to study those patterns: how they form, how they repeat, and how they shape how people understand themselves and participate in higher orders of meaning, purpose, belief, and identity.

This is not a sports business newsletter, this is:

  • A way to study the world around us and arrive at a coherent worldview.

  • A lens by which to see how structures, systems, and patterns of meaning emerge, operate, and govern our world.

  • A way to train pattern recognition so that recurring structures can be remembered and applied across different fields of work and life.

  • A place to think clearly about sports, media, culture, and capital — not as an economy, but as an expression of deeper, duplicative patterns.

If you are interested in learning to see more clearly—
not just what is happening, but why it takes the shape that it does—
you’re in the right place.
